I am an Academic Professional Development Adviser at the University of Sheffield and a doctoral researcher. I teach on the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching for Learning in Higher Education and support the delivery of professional development opportunities for teaching staff at all levels in the University.
I have recently published a new book on personal tutoring and coaching for the HE sector entitled ‘Effective Personal Tutoring in Higher Education’ (Oct. 2018). The book includes a foreword by Professor Liz Thomas and was co-authored with colleagues from Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Bolton and the University of Derby. My first well-received book entitled ‘Becoming an Outstanding Personal Tutor: Supporting Learners through Personal Tutoring and Coaching’ was published in October 2015.
Previously, within further education, I held the roles of manager of personal tutoring and student experience. I always taught alongside managerial roles, most recently as a lecturer in marketing and course leader of the Postgraduate Certificate in Education course in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University. Going further back, I undertook a range of marketing management and consultancy roles in the private and public sector.
A keen writer, researcher and blogger within education and marketing and, as such, I am keen to make connections with others about writing, research and development.
